A Christkindlmarkt is an outdoor
market of gift and food items as well as winter wear such as scarfs,
hats, etc .held in town squares and churchyard squares throughout
Germany and Austria. It is held nightly throughout Advent (begins the
4th Sunday before Christmas.) A traditional drink...gluvine
(spelling?) is sold in each town, however, we will have Christkindl
Ale—new from Christian Moerlein.
"Christkindlmarkt On Main"
will take place on Saturday, Dec 1, with shops open for business. Many
shops will be open until 8:30 p.m. or later for shopping
convenience, Come early, spend the day for a traditional German
holiday experience.
Strolling actors (the Satori Group)
will add holiday carols. A traditional Saint Nick, in bishop attire
will stroll Main Street will give out candy canes.

steps off from Kaldi's at 2.p.m., cost $5.
“Christkindlmarkt On Main” will
have Moerlein's new Christkindle Ale available at Kaldi's, Courtyard,
Cue, etc. Special menu items will also be featured.

Stop by Urban Eden, C4Yourself Gallery, 1305 Gallery and others for unique gift shopping.
Outdoor Vendors:
Many of your
favorite vendors, artists and crafters will set up to sell by noon
until 5 p.m. Vendors are welcome to stay beyond the minimum time. It
will be first come first serve for set up. The street will NOT be
closed to traffic. Ken Jones at the OTR Foundation (1317 main) has
agreed to open the office as a base for questions, etc for the
vendors.
Luminaria: (Small bags with sand and
candles.)
Lumineria will light Main Street, and
over to the Art Academy of Cincinnati along 13th Street to
Jackson Street. Lumineria will also be featured at Aquarius Star at
13th and Sycamore. This will be overseen by Angela Morrow
at C4Yourself Gallery.
Light up Main Street Contest:
There will be lighting contest among
shopkeepers, and another amongresidents for good prizes awarded by
celebrity judges! Judging at 6:30. Judges include Greg
Hardmann from Christian Moerlein, Brian tiffany from the OTR Chamber of Commerce along with representatives from Enjoy the Arts and escorted
by Kris Sommer of Urban Sites.
Light up Afterparty
Afterparty (free apetizers, drink
specials, and awarding of prizes for best lights and decor at Cue
(formerly RBC) at 8:30 or 9 p.m.
